Originally founded in 2002 Health Aid for Africa received UK registered charity status and was granted number 1096600

Following completion of the first major project by the charity which was the ante-natal clinic at Rukaragarta the District Commissioner Lt. Col Srengo Mrengo opened the clinic and praised the work involved in 2006 and in 2008 the Tanzanian government registered the charity as a Non-Governmental Organization. This actually means that the charity does not have to pay any tax on goods and services in Tanzania.
